Exploration and fun are the keywords for Sudbury Theatre Centre’s week-long Summer Theatre Camps! Our camp instructors will lead a series of fun, collaborative activities designed to build imagination, confidence, creative expression and lasting friendships.

SUMMER DRAMA CAMPS

Monday 5 JUL to Friday 9 JUL 2021 – 9 am to 4 pm SOLD OUT

(Students may register for only one of the Summer Drama Camp sessions)

AGES 8 to 12 | $260 (HST incl.)

This week-long activity introduces campers to the concepts and vocabulary of drama through cooperative theatre-based games and exercises. Campers will develop an understanding of the principles of dramatic storytelling while engaging in scene work and character work, leading to an informal showcase presentation at the end of the week.

MORGAN COOK | Drama Instructor
Morgan is a multi-talented artist from Sudbury with a passion for integrating inclusive and relevant content into her artistic endeavors. Morgan recently earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Production from Laurentian University with a minor in Indigenous Studies. She is the current Resident Stage Manager for local theatre company, YES Theatre – her most recent productions include Mary Poppins, James and the Giant Peach, and Mamma Mia. Morgan also stage-managed STC’s Students On Stage production of The Wind in the Willows (2019) and served as video editor for Cinderella (2021). She looks forward to sharing her love of the theatre with a new group of students.

SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE CAMPS

Monday 9 AUG to Friday 13 AUG 2021 – 9 am to 4 pm
(Students may register for only one of the Summer Musical Theatre Camp sessions)

AGES 8 to 12 | $260 (HST incl.)

Working in a collaborative and creative atmosphere, students will expand their performance skills in acting, voice and movement while further developing their knowledge of the various backstage aspects of putting on a theatrical production. Participants will share what they’ve learned as part of an informal showcase presentation at the end of the week.

DENNIS CROPPER | Musical Theatre Instructor
Dennis Cropper is the Director of Administration for Sudbury Theatre Centre. Dennis has not only worked in arts administration for many years, he has also performed on stage in several musicals. His most notable roles include Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Oliver Warbucks in Annie. Dennis has also served as vocal director for shows such as Little Shop of Horrors, Spamalot and Rock of Ages. Dennis has shared his passion for the arts with his three children, who all enjoy participating in the performing arts through acting, singing and dancing. Dennis will bring this enthusiasm for the arts to class each day to inspire our young performers.

The following restrictions and protocols will be in place for all live classes offered during COVID-19 time:

  • Camps are limited to a maximum of 12 students per week
  • Masks must be worn inside the building
  • Classes will be held in the auditorium to maximize physical distancing
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building and in the washrooms
  • Washroom facilities will be cleaned and sanitized daily

PAYMENT

The STC DiBrina Box Office is currently closed to the public. To provide payment, call our Box Office at 705 674 8381 x21 and leave a message with your name, phone number and purpose of your call. Our box office staff will call you back to process your payment over the phone.

Space is limited to 12 campers per week – registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is not complete until payment is received.
